Apply now for our new ETC Artist Residency Programme!

Our new ETC Artist Residency Programme shall bridge the divide between European public theatre institutions and the independent theatre scene. The first year’s programme will promote residencies for emerging stage directors.

The European Theatre Convention (ETC) launches a new initiative offering young stage directors the possibility to join a theatre production process as assistant director or second assistant director for a period of 4 to 8 weeks. From end of February to June 2018 the eight selected young artists will gain insight into new working methods, discover the daily routine and structures as well as evolve their skills within the scope of a European public theatre. The ETC Artist Residency Programme aims at offering new perspectives and professional artistic experience.

About the residencies
Detailed information about the available residencies and how to apply can be found here and in the open Call for Applications.

Residencies are available in the following ETC Member Theatres:
Austria (Schauspielhaus Graz), Germany (Deutsches Theater Berlin, Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe and Theater Magdeburg), Hungary (Pesti Magyar Színház Budapest and Weöres Sándor Színház Sombathely), Israel (Gesher Theatre Tel Aviv) and Slovenia (Slovenian National Theatre Nova Gorica)

In addition to the placements in ETC Member Theatres, the scholars will be invited to present themselves at the ETC International Theatre Conference in Oslo, Norway. The meeting will take place from 7th to 10th June 2018 and enables them to network with theatre professionals from over 20 countries.

Participation in the programme is open to young stage directors recommended by ETC Member Theatres and to independent young directors.
